A Warrior in Spirit and Heart
In today’s My Poetry Corner, I’m honoring someone very dear to me, my grandson, Sean. He is kind, wise beyond his years, and full of faith and love. He’s the kind of child who walks with a quiet strength, and you just know he’s going to do something meaningful in this world.
I wrote Warrior for Sean. In the poem, he becomes a mighty protector, a leader with courage, wisdom, and a destiny to bring light where there’s darkness.
At Surviving Life Lessons, many of the stories, poems, and reflections shared are inspired by the people who shape our lives and remind us what strength, faith, and character truly look like. If you enjoy reflective writing like this, you can also explore the many themes and creative pieces found in the Blog Series Catalog.
It’s not a fantasy story. It’s a reflection of who he is, becoming a warrior in the best sense of the word. Not because he fights, but because he leads with heart, honor, and purpose.
Warrior
Sean, great and mighty warrior, is he
Who sits on the throne of destiny
His faith, love, honor, and staying true
This will help guide his people through
A new adventure will begin
Evil in the village will end
Wisdom to make his people great
This was his fate.

Reflection on My Warrior Poem
My Warrior poem was written with deep love and respect. Sean has always shown such thoughtfulness and heart — and I wanted to capture that in a way that celebrates who he is.
It’s not about swords or battles. It’s about spiritual strength. About guiding others through hard things. About honor, wisdom, and faith.
I believe our children need more poems like this — ones that speak life and purpose into who they are becoming. To help them see that their quiet strength and good hearts can truly make a difference in the world. For the children in your life, look at their strengths, encourage them in words to grow those strengths. The world needs those positives.
This is my warrior. And I know he will do great things.
