Welcome to My Poetry Corner — a place where I share real moments through simple, heartfelt poems. Poetry isn't about fancy words for me. It's about capturing the emotions we all feel — love, heartache, laughter, hope, and the messy moments in between.


Here, you'll find poetry that speaks from my life to yours. Whether you're smiling today or healing from yesterday, I hope you find a poem that you can relate to and share with others.


Why I Write Poems


I started writing poems when I was in elementary school. I enjoyed the praise of teachers when my parents disliked me. Poetry became my way of saying what I wanted without being slapped or judged. It was like my own secret code, where I could say everything I needed to say without holding anything back.


I could write about a seed growing through the dirt (me trying to enjoy life), the sun beating down until I start to shrivel up (my mom degrading me), and then the rain comes (God helping me grow) to bring health and vitality. Poetry helped me make sense of my feelings, my life, and the world around me, almost like a journal, but in a creative way.


I’ve always loved the patterns and styles of poetry. Writing a poem is like turning my life into a challenge, taking what’s going on and fitting it into a pattern that makes sense. In 50 years, only a few people will read a poem or two. It wasn’t until my cancer diagnosis in 2020 that I started sharing them openly. I hope they touch a real place inside you and you start writing your story.
