Frog Poem

A green frog sitting on an open poetry book in a peaceful garden, symbolizing calm and surprise
He read a few lines and hopped away with joy.

When the World Slows Down — A Poem and a Frog

This poem comes from Cuddles & Roars, my illustrated children's book that captures the magic of everyday moments, and this one was very real.

I was attending a party at a resort in Williamsburg, VA, and decided to step away from the crowd and sit in their quiet garden area. The gazebo, the flowers, the pond, it was all so peaceful.

I had brought my poetry journal with me to write, and as I was reading, a small green frog jumped up on my book like he was curious too. He just sat there for a bit, looked at the pages, and then hopped away.

It was the most beautiful moment tucked into an ordinary day.

When life gets loud and messy, this memory brings me peace. That little frog reminds me that sometimes, it just takes a small pause to turn the day around.

What peaceful moment can you look back on when your world feels chaotic?

Frog

I was reading poetry

A green frog jumped up to see

Stared at the words, did he

Then hopped away happily

Reflection on My Frog Poem

This tiny frog taught me something big — peace can find you when you least expect it.

You don’t have to be on a grand vacation or have everything go according to plan. Sometimes, it’s just about being still long enough to notice something magical, like a frog reading over your shoulder.

What moment can you hold onto for peace?

What small, unexpected joy can you reflect on when you’re having a hard day?

Maybe it’s time to go sit outside with a book…

You never know who might keep you company.
