Our Best Friend on Four Paws
Dogs have always been a part of my family. Growing up, raising kids, and even now with grandkids, we've always had dogs as part of our home.
The only time I didn’t have one was after my divorce, when I lived in places that didn’t allow pets. It felt like something was missing.
This poem, Dog Days, is about the everyday moments of life with a dog:
The way they sneak around for food,
The way they cuddle up in the coziest spots,
The way they "speak" without using words.
Dogs aren't just pets. They’re family.
They’re the undercover spies, the kitchen thieves, the ones who know when you’re sad, and the first to sit quietly beside you.
Dog Days
On the soft couch lies
Undercover spies
Dog peak
Tempting to his eyes
After food, he tries
Dog sneak
For his owner cries
Until seen with eyes

Reflection on My Dog Days Poem
There’s something magical about the way dogs seem to just know.
They peek from under blankets when they think you’re upset.
They sneak toward the kitchen the moment you open a wrapper.
And sometimes, they speak without a single sound, with their eyes, their nuzzles, their loyalty.
If you’ve ever loved a dog, you know what I mean.
They’re goofy, sneaky, comforting, and somehow always tuned in to your emotions.
This poem celebrates all of that in just a few lines.
