My Children Were My World And Still Are
People always said I was strict, controlling, or overprotective. Maybe I was. But it’s because my children meant more to me than anything else.
They weren’t planned, but they were never unloved.
Each one came into this world during difficult seasons of my life, but when I held them in my arms, there was nothing but love. I wanted to protect them from the pain I had lived through. I wanted to give them the support I never had.
Even in the chaos of working, managing a household, and trying to survive, my children brought joy in the middle of the mess.
Now that they’re grown, I’m proud. Not because of what society sees, but because they are kind, strong, and resilient. This poem is my reminder to them, and maybe to others, that children truly are a blessing even when life is hard.
Children are not interruptions to life. They are the meaning that carries you through it.
Blessed Child
My children are a blessing from God to me.
Although at times they are unexpected, they are meant to be.
There is a love and a bond that children bring around.
That until they came, I could never have found.
They are more precious than some can believe.
Look into the eyes of a child holding onto your knees.
It is the cute little things they say to you.
They bring happiness deep down too.
You cannot help but laugh at those silly things.
There is nothing as valuable as the presents they bring.
The joy that comes from the first walks, words, or smile.
These little darlings are what make life worthwhile.
There are times they may make me come unglued.
That is all wiped away by their hug and "I love you."
I know that eventually, they will go their way.
Until then, I will enjoy God's blessing each day.

Reflection on My Blessed Child Poem
Being a mom isn’t just a title, it’s a purpose.
The world may not always understand the fierce love, the protectiveness, the sacrifice, and yes the moments when you fall apart. But if you're a mom who’s done the best you can with what you had, that love matters.
You don’t need to explain your parenting style to the world. You raised kids who know how to survive, how to love, and how to be decent human beings.
That’s success. That’s legacy.
If you're a mom, or if you had a mom who loved you this fiercely, take a moment to reflect. And maybe send them this poem to say, “Thank you.”
