Divorce Poem – Finding Peace After Betrayal

A woman walks peacefully along the shore at dusk.

When Everything Breaks, You Still Deserve Peace

I wrote Divorce after my first separation. He had cheated, and everything in my world cracked open. But what made it even harder was that we tried again two years later, only for him to cheat and leave for good.

Both times I asked myself:

  • Why wasn’t I enough?

  • How do I move forward when it hurts this much?

  • Where do I find peace in all this pain?

And both times, the only thing that brought me back to center was prayer. Not prayer that he would change. Not prayer that we’d get back together again. But prayer that I would survive it.

This poem reflects that journey — the chaos of betrayal followed by the quiet rebuilding of my mind and spirit.

Divorce

Fear, imagine the worst

Anger, guilt, resentment

People and situation controlling

Obsessive, thinking about things

Prayer —

Sense of hope

Strength, patience, courage, direction

Self-loving, self-nurturing, guilt-free

Peace of Mind

Reflection on Divorce, Faith, and Finding Yourself Again

This poem is shaped like the emotional arc of healing. It starts with the mental chaos of a breakup and ends in peace. That shift didn’t happen overnight for me. It came through tears, therapy, journaling, parenting through pain — and mostly, prayer.

Whether you've been cheated on, left, or just grieving the dream that didn’t happen — this is your reminder:

  • You're allowed to feel everything.

  • You don't have to rush healing.

  • You can be angry and faithful at the same time.

  • Peace doesn’t come from closure. It comes from choosing yourself.

Let this poem be your breath between the storms.
